FOUR
WINDS is situated on a property of 2 hectars (5 acres) surrounded
by olive groves in the foothills of a small mountain range.
There are no other houses nearby and the village is approximately
1.5 kms away so our activities disturb no one.
There is a wonderful reassurance that comes with working close
to other artists, each involved in their own creative process,
and although we work quite separately, each one can sense
the high level of energy and, in those moments of difficulty,
the necessary support is close at hand. We often share meals
or coffee and can relax to enjoy the exchange of ideas which
is as important as the actual work process itself.
As
a group, we are very concerned with ecology and the environment
on a global scale as well as here on our own property where
we take every precaution possible to protect the land and
everything that lives on it. We recycle garbage, cultivate
organically, and take great care not to waste resources such
as water, electricity, etc.
Each one who comes to share our studio spaces (visiting artists
or students), for long or short periods of time, is encouraged
to share ideas on any subject whether it concerns their work,
their lives or any other thing.
